Jeffrey Callen is an ethnographer and writer, living in San Francisco. Along the way to receiving his Ph.D. in ethnomusicology, he learned the bracketing of reactions, the deep hanging out, the willingness to be surprised that are the sine qua non of the ethnographic method. He also has the writing chops to craft an authentic and engaging story that can form the basis for effective action for clients. Specializing in arts-related issues, Jeffrey provides: writing & research services and strategic planning for artists, arts-related businesses and arts organizations; and project management & evaluation for arts-related businesses, arts organizations and funders. He is also a cultural analyst, whose writing on popular culture appears in scholarly and popular publications, and a creative writer and published poet.
